I loved this. So encouraging and uplifting. Hallelujah is such a beautiful song. I get emotional every time I hear it! As a creative soul, it's also encouraging to read about both the song and the Shmatta. Lol. One man's trash...
Thanks, Jenny! Lovely to hear from you. I wanted to end the year on an inspirational and uplifting note. We sure need it these days. Wishing you and your family a happy and healthy new year!
Delightful! I started reading not knowing where this will take me and I got glued to it, I could now spend a whole day exploring the leads here. One of your best. Your 'Ma loves Cohen....the Schmatta Shop, not so much! (One of Ma's top "Hilary"s San Francisco Days" stories) Cheers
Another interesting writing , Hilary ,I enjoyed as usual ..
First to mention the schmatta 😀I didn't know there was a store name but I think is from a Jewish word I learned when working my first work in BH as a designer at Nettie's..I guess the name explained their merchandise 😊..you are so funny..
But as for Leonard Cohen .. OMG I'm his big fan so is my sis Sonia in Montreal ,she took me to his show while in Montreal fell in love even more ,but she is his big follower ..you should see Leonard huge Homage statue they build right on the hearth of downtown i took the picture ,very impressive.

Hilary ,your writing made me love him even more after reading all his struggles ♥️
I will pass this to Sonia and my other sisters we all love him ,( they will enjoy reading as much as I did specially your amazing fun funny.. writing) ,I sow the house he grew up in Montreal on Westmount.
Love this, Aida. Thanks for reading and filling me in on more Leonard Cohen fun facts. I’ll have to go visit his statue next time I’m in Montreal. Never seen it! The store wan’t really called The Cotton Schmatta Shop. That was just the nickname my mom gave to it. 😀
