I hope my words of unworried wisdom help to unfurrow a few corrugated brows. My mom, a professional worrier, bestowed them upon me several years ago in a transient moment of clarity. Today, coincidentally enough, meditation teacher Susan Chen broadcast this in *her* email:
“In the Vedic worldview, speculation is the root of all suffering. Why? When we speculate, we move into iterations of what we think may happen instead of what’s actually happening right now.
“While we’re busy playing out an imagined Category 5 disaster in our minds, we completely miss actual evolution unfolding—effortlessly, right before our eyes.”
Love this. Thanks for helping to keep us sane, Bzzz! I was chatting with friends earlier today about the bad stuff and then I caught myself and said, “We have to send good energy out there.”

It's such a great start to the day when "In with the Old" arrives. I can feel the energy rushing in!
Oh, that "Miranda" clip. She has funny bones. Brilliant. Thing is, that really is what it feels like working in offices some days. Like being on another planet. That fall you had sounds awful. Thank goodness you weren't seriously hurt.
We love gardening outside, and only yesterday Craig was asking about having a plant in the bathroom. Your article makes me think we should seriously consider getting some house plants, particularly with all the benefits you describe. 🤔
Very impressed that you joined a band. You would have regretted it if you'd refused, I'm sure, so well done!! (I remember that track from a Carpenters album my mum had. Lovely song.).
Thanks soooo much for the mention! Thrilled to be part of an issue of "In with the Old". Can't wait for the next issue - great tips and funny as always 😊 Thanks, Hilary!💛
Jules! Thank you for being such a supportive and kind reader. It means so much to me and your notes always give me a lift. Whenever you need a laugh, I highly recommend watching episodes of "Miranda". The show has been great medicine of late. And yes, that clip is exactly what it's like to work in an office, but there's never anyone as fun as Miranda there to break up the monotony. That's why I ran screaming from corporate life years ago. Definitely get some house plants if you can, they've made such a difference in our home. 🪴🪴💚💚
Honestly Hilary, I so look forward to these posts. Just terrifically presented and packed with interesting, useful and funny stuff. Thank you!
YES to house plants. I must get onto that. I will look out for some when I'm out and about. Your tips will be very useful.
We did enjoy "Miranda" way back when it first came on UK TV, but I'm not sure we saw every series. I had forgotten just how good she is. Comedy is the best medicine, yes, and I hope you are ok 💛. The woman who plays Stevie (Sarah Hadland) is currently a contestant on "Strictly Come Dancing", the UK version of "Dancing With The Stars" I think? She is as funny as ever!

Thank you…”focusing on what’s right in the world.”🙏🏽 I’m off to buy some plant food!
Yay! Let me know if any of the plant perk up. Sending hugs to you. xoo
