Love the story of the divine desk, Handy Jack, and your faith in the cosmos being restored! Gaffawed out loud multiple times. Always a joy. I must meet Noodle one day! 😂
There are so many interesting ways that you tell us about staying fully alive in this posting. It’s truly sad that someone as vibrant and full of talent should have died in a house fire. Jill ‘s song was so blunt and a good story as well.
Kindness happens every day when I read some of the wonderful people who write and enjoy sharing and helping other writers. @Debra Groves Harman is kind and generous with her advice.
Thank you for reading and your sweet note, Jocelyn. I really wanted to focus on the good in the world and celebrate kindness. We need it so much right now. 💕I’ll check out Debra Groves Harmon.
I love the chain of kindness, and the Friendship Line which I've vaguely heard of but didn't know much about. How did you get involved with that?
I just saw a similar bumper sticker recently... it said something like "Keep Honking, I'm listening to the 1981 audiobook version of Lord of the Rings narrated by [Somebody's Name]".
Hiya Pia - I'm sorry to break the sad news to you about Jill Sobule. So tragic. I saw an article that mentioned The Friendship Line and I went to their website to investigate volunteer opportunities and signed up. There is a lot of training involved, but if you're interested, we definitely need more volunteers!
Taru! This is the best compliment. Thank you! I often worry that I'm blathering on too long, but I figure, even if nobody reads my posts, at least I have fun writing them. Thank you for taking a chance and breaking your rule for me. Hope you're having the most delightful day.
Congratulations on your great work with The Friendship Line. I agree with your client who said that the good you put out into the world can come back at you, even if it's just knowing you have done something so valuable. A three hour shift is no small thing and you must be shattered by the end of it. Well done, H2 💛
The table looks terrific - a perfect fit. Now you have plenty of space to produce some of your lovely artwork and post it to Substack (please!).
Glad to see that Don Bachardy is still exhibiting - I'd love to see some of his work.
Oh that clip of Abbey and David. Magic. It's touching because it's so honest and unsentimental: just one person telling another that they love them, and listing the reasons why. What could be more romantic?
Oh lord. Old age a disease! It's starting to sound like "Logan's Run". No wonder folks get depressed. Everything revolves around money: a lot of the problems with aging are to do with poverty, and the drug companies want to medicate everyone into oblivion for profit. The beauty industry wants us to pay them for the fantasy of keeping us young. What the WHO are on about heaven knows. World's gone mad - I'm off to live in a cave 🤣
Another tour de force, H2. Thanks so much for a fabulous read. Off to read the links now! 🤓
Jules! This was such an uplifting comment to wake up to today! You have the most kind and supportive spirit and we're all lucky to know you, and read your work here on Substack. So happy that you enjoyed this post and I love that you're a fan of Don Bachardy. The exhibit is really phenomenal. It's a retrospective of his work and also includes some correspondence between him and Christopher Isherwood. I posted photos on Instagram and Facebook and found out that two (!!) of my friends sat for him. The portraits they shared were incredible. If you're able to watch "Love On The Spectrum", I highly recommend it. The stars of the show are so lovely and they all bring gifts to exchange on their first dates. 😍 You're spot-on about money being at the root of trying to disease-afy old age. I'm so relieved those doctors stepped in to stop the madness with WHO. Sadly, there'll be no stopping the beauty industry and all their agist messaging. Sending a big hug to you. Thanks for sharing too!! xoxo
Big hug right back. 🤗 And this is my fourth attempt to reply so forgive me if they all register! 😆
Your posts are wonderful. So full of great stories, fun and great advice. I love them.
I saw a film about Don Bachardy not long ago. I found out about him because of the Hockney portraits of him and Christopher Isherwood. Your friends must treasure their portraits! So good to see him mentioned 😍
This has brought so much cheer HH. Your work on The Friendship Line is hugely commendable. I know so many people are struggling so it is a really wonderful thing to do.
The art desk is a revelation. What a great idea. I love it and I hope you share what you create.
Thank you for such an enlightening and uplifting post. Have a lovely week.
Yesterday TA got some yogurt off a high shelf for an older woman at the supermarket, and I did some simultaneous English-to-French translation for my teacher during last night’s dance class 💕
I am constantly amazed by the things people leave at the curb. Also constantly fighting the urge to take nice things from the curb that I don't need.
Oh yes. Story of my life. 😀
Ahh! Such a breathe of fresh air reading your stories! One of the best things that happened to me lately was meeting you for the first time!
Aww. You're a delight, Heather! Thank you for reading and leaving a sweet note. Loved meeting you too. We must do it again soon. xoxo

😍Glad I made you laugh because you always crack me up. I hope you get to meet Noodle. He’s 18.5 so let’s make it happen soon. Thanks for reading!!

Please do so she’s planning a great walk in October 2026. And you’re so welcome for giving me a lift when I read your post.🌹
Love the desk! Love you!
Love you back! 😘Thanks, Jeff!!
Jill Sobule? I didn't know. :(

I love the way you tell a great story. I usually avoid long posts, but you broke me of that habit. Thank you❣️

Aww. Thanks for the sweet note and the share, Margaret. You brightened my day. I highly recommend an art desk for analog projects. Total game changer.

Aww! You two are the BEST. Such big-hearted and generous souls. The world is better because you guys are in it. xoxo
Right back atcha, HH 😘
Loved this HH!
Thanks for reading and leaving a note, E! Love seeing your name and hope to see your face soon. xoxo
